This past weekend, we ventured up to KC to see my sister and the fam! Frankie was not able to drive up with us with us on Friday because he had a really good friend getting married on Saturday, but we booked him a plane ticket on Sunday so that he could drive back with us on Monday. The trip didn't start off so well as Mikayla threw up in the back seat of the car before we even left Norman, Oklahoma. After we got the car disinfected, we were on the road again and met my parents on the interstate so Mom could ride with us to KC. Poor Mikayla wasn't feeling real well, but we put her in the third seat row and let her lay down and sleep most of the way. The trip was going okay, until my low-pressure tire light came on. I checked the tires, but they all looked just fine. I started having horrible visions of us stranded on the side of the interstate. (At least my dad was following us!) As we were about 40 miles from Topeka, I looked down to see if the tire light was still on. GOOD NEWS! The tire light was not on! BAD NEWS! We were about to run out of gas. And wouldn't you know it...the closest gas station was over 30 miles away. In the midst of me worrying about being stranded on the side of the road, I failed to realize my gas light was on as well. Long story short, we made it to a gas station on fumes and managed to make it to my sister's safely on Friday night.
The next day, Mikayla still wasn't feeling well, so I took her to the urgent care facility. Come to find out, our poor girl had pneumonia. We got her hooked up with some good antibiotics and she started to perk up by the end of our trip. We kept everything pretty low-key so Mikayla could lay around and get some rest. Saturday evening, we went out to eat at a pretty good burger joint called Five Guys.Sunday, Frankie was supposed to fly out at 8:30AM and arrive at 9:40. He called me at 7:30AM and said he just woke up. Turns out the snooze button on his alarm worked a little too well for him. He booked the next flight which arrived at 3:45PM that afternoon. After we picked him up from the airport, we went back to my sisters house for a feast of yummy BBQ.
All in all, we had a pretty good time (despite me being worried about Mikayla the entire time). I am really glad that Yasmine, Mikayla and Keeley got to bond with their cousins Cass and Dylan! They had a lot of fun and are ready to come back again!
