An unforgettable Trip

Well, I am home safe and sound from NYC! We had a really great time...that is... up until the last day we were there, and I will tell you that story here in a little bit.

We arrived at our hotel on Wednesday night around 8PM and we were starving, so we decided to just start walking around and we would surely find a restaurant to eat at. We stumbled upon Smith and Wollensky's Steakhouse. We were super excited because if you have ever seen "The Devil Wears Prada", this is the place in the movie where Andrea has to go to pick up Miranda's perfectly cooked steak every day for lunch. The food was AWESOME and overly-priced...but heck, it's not everyday that we are in NYC, so we decided to splurge.

The next day, we pretty much walked around all day. First we stopped and went to the Plattform Advertising offices that are based out of New York. Peg, who is the HR director at the NY location took us out for lunch and showed us around. After lunch, Dory and I went down 5th avenue to look at all the fun shops such as Jimmy Choo, Fendi, Cartier and Louis Vuitton...you know...the shops you can't find in Oklahoma:) We also went to Times Square, Rockefeller Center and walked around outside NBC studios where you always see them filming the TODAY show. We got back to the hotel just in time to get ready and head back out to the Broadway show "Wicked". It was sooooo good. The show got over after 10PM, and we still had not had dinner, so we went to Carmine's which is a really good Italian place.

On Friday, we did our Sex and the City tour. This was my favorite part of the trip. We were in a huge bus with TV screens throughout the inside and they would show bits and pieces of the show and then as we would drive by where they shot the scenes, our tour guide would point them out. My favorite stop on the tour was to Magnolia Bakery which is famous for their YUMMY cupcakes. They gave us a free cupcake, but Dory and I also made sure to stock up on some extras while we were there:) We also ran across Meg Ryan on the tour...but we only saw her walking down the street, no pictures, darn it!

Later that night, Michael Platt took us out for dinner and then Tamie met up with us and we had drinks at a piano bar called "Don't tell Mama". (Michael and Tamie were the owners of Plattform Advertising when I first started with them 9 years ago! Michael now works out of the Plattform offices in New York.) We had a lot of fun and it was really good to see the Platt's since I don't get to see them that often!

On Saturday morning, we got to sleep in a little bit...but this is where the crap hit the fan. We were getting ready to go out for the day and I looked in my purse and my wallet was gone. WHAT THE HECK! We tore the hotel room apart and could not find my wallet. EVERYTHING was in there...my drivers license, credit cards and most importantly, my STARBUCKS discount card. CRAP! I guess when we were paying for the cab the night before, it must have fell out in the back of the taxi. I had to call and cancel everything and THANKFULLY, no charges had been on my cards. Then it was a nightmare because I was trying to find out how I would get on the plane without my ID. We had to file a police report and Frankie had to fax me a copy of my birth certificate and anything else that would help IDENTIFY me when getting on the plane:) Poor Dory had to pay for everything that last day until I could get back home to pay her back! (THANK YOU DORY!) Needless to say, it wasn't the best way to end the trip, but they let me board the plane and I made it back to Oklahoma! I still had fun and enjoyed every minute of getting to hang out with my BF Dory!
