I'm back!

I dropped off the face of the earth, but I'm back.  Since I haven't blogged for a month, I have lots of catching up to do!

***Mikayla's t-ball team ended their season at the end of June and they won the championship!  It definitely kept us busy in June as Mikayla had games and practice at least two to three times a week.  If you don't think t-ball is competitive...think again.  I am not sure if the competitiveness was between the parents or the kids...but it was definitely fun to watch the girls play!

***My dad is running for County Commissioner of Sumner County, so the girls were very excited that they got to ride in the county parade with him.  It was soo cute seeing them wave at all the people along the sidewalks.  VOTE STAN BURDETT...if you live in Sumner County:)  (Which I am sure only about 1% of you reading this actually live in Sumner County..ha!)

***We decided to have a "staycation" last weekend and booked a hotel room in downtown Oklahoma City on Saturday night.  I have to say that it was one of the best weekends we have had in a long time!  No TV's, no computers...just good ol' fashion family time!  After swimming in the hotel, we ate dinner at Toby Keith's Bar and Grill which might just have the best mashed potatoes in this world.  After that, we walked around and took in the sights and sounds of bricktown.

***This week I had to take a quick business trip to Sacramento and Fresno.  I flew into Sacramento on Monday night, had meetings Tuesday, drove to Fresno Tuesday night and had meetings all day Wednesday in Fresno before flying back home that night.  It was a whirlwind trip, but we got a lot accomplished.  The highlight of the trip was sitting one table away from Arnold Schwarzenegger during one of my lunch meetings.  It was a little odd having three secret servicemen stare at you while you eat, but I didn't care...it was the GOVERNATOR!

Below are pictures from the last month!

(this was a "let me pull out my blackberry and check email while I snap a picture of Arnold Schwarzenegger" moment, hence, the quality of the picture:)

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

Happy Father's Day to all the men in my family!! We love you sooooo much!

I love you Dad!  I am the luckiest daughter in the world to have such a wonderful and supportive Father.

To my Father-in-Law!

To my Bro-in-law!!  I love this picture of him and his kiddos.

MY HUBBY!  You are such a wonderful Father!

Here is the poem with handprints that Keeley made for her Daddy.  She couldn't wait to give it to him.

I think Daddy really liked it!!

We also got Daddy an armband for his iphone which Keeley is hiding behind her back.  We gave it to him a day early because we knew he would want to use it when he mowed the lawn.  Unfortuantely, that was the last time we say this poor little armband device.  Keeley was playing with it and after searching high and low, it is nowhere to be found.

At least we didn't lose his new Thunder shirt:)

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!

Busy Weekend

Last weekend was a crazy busy weekend! Yasmine had a birthday/slumber party to attend on Friday night...and another birthday/slumber party to attend on Saturday night...AND another birthday/skate party to go to on Sunday!  Needless to say, Yasmine was in heaven.  While their sister was partying the weekend away, Mikayla and Keeley were busy catching bugs with their new bug kits.  My Mom and Dad were also down for the weekend as well so we had fun with Grandma and Papa too!

(Nice wind blown hair Mikayla!!)

cooking week

Keeley's daycare has a theme for every week during their summer session.  This week is Crazy Cooking week!  Below is her funky chef hat she made at daycare today.  I sure hope she doesn't end up getting my cooking skills when she grows up.

Tired, Sore and Sunburned

I decided to work on the landscaping in front of the house and start from scratch.  About halfway through, I was ready to heave the rake and shovel down a river, but I was too far into the project, so I had to finish it.

The hardest part was digging out all the old mulch and plants and hauling it away. I had planned on taking "Before, During and After" shots, but I didn't remember the camera until I was in the "during" stage.

In the midst of planning out the project and deciding where the plants should go.

Laying down the black carpet, as I like to call it, to keep the nasty weeds away.

This is "almost done".  I still want to find some more colorful flowers to spice it up a little.

My little workers, children.

It was too rough for them, so they decided to lay in the back of the truck and chill.
